A
very young Michael Edick took in his first race in 1971.
It was a glorious, eye-filling, heart-pounding, all-out
Can-Am race at Laguna Seca with the likes of Jackie Stewart,
Peter Revson, and Denny Hulme all racing the most powerful
machines on the planet.
Thus began a life-long passionate love affair with the wonderful
world of race cars that just gets stronger every day
Armed with a degree in mechanical engineering from Cal Poly, San
Luis Obispo and a professional background in welding and fabrication,
Edick has been happily applying his design and craftsmanship skills
to any challenge that has been set before him.
Whether its a go-kart, a custom Harley, a Mallock Sports
Racer, or the beautiful little Ralt RT5 Formula Super Vee that he
restored and which he races (very successfully) in West Coast SCCA
and Vintage events, this guy puts everything hes got into
the job, and the work shows it!
In 1999 Edick, who had worked for many years as a manufacturing
engineer, left the corporate world to start his own company, MTE
Engineering, a business dedicated to the needs of individual
racers from almost every form and fashion of the wheeled sport.
When hes not fabricating special parts (hes got a great
rep. for some very nice work on headers, and does some very smart
detail stuff on small custom bracketry) or supporting one of his
good customers at the race track, youll find this perpetually-active
guy in the tech shed or out on the track as a communicator for San
Francisco region of the SCCA.
To be sure, this guy Edick eats, sleeps and breathes anything that
has wheels, makes noise, and goes fast. He also understands the
needs, wants, desires, and budgets of others who have his same affliction.
As advertised, this is a good guy and a GREAT technical
resource! - DS
